Why the Cross Offers More than Forgiveness

By Chip Ingram

Why did Jesus come? That’s a significant question that elicits a variety of responses.

If we go straight to the source of God’s Word, Luke 19:10 tells us, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” But what did that salvation include? Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Truly, salvation is a gift that saves us from the deadly penalty of sin and replaces it with the promise of eternal life. Yet Jesus takes it even further. In John 10:10, He says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

He longs for us to experience more than forgiveness. He wants us to enjoy life today, not just what awaits in eternity. But sadly, many of us never embrace the full life He came to earth to give us. We allow ourselves to walk in shame rather than grace. We live in fear rather than freedom.

Thankfully, there’s good news. In this powerful clip from Chip, he shares how Jesus meets us right where we are. Regardless of the failures in our past or the struggles in our present, He comes with grace and truth. And He offers more than forgiveness. He offers the life-changing gift of restoration. Watch to find out how Jesus can bring restoration to your life today.
